Amanda Wingfield is a faded remnant of Southern gentility who now lives in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura, who has a physical handicap and debilitating shyness. Tom supports his mother and sister with a factory job he finds unbearable. When Amanda convinces Tom to bring home a 鈥済entleman caller鈥 for Laura, the illusions that Tom, Amanda, and Laura have created in order to make life bearable collapse about them.
In celebration of the 150th Anniversary, THE GLASS MENAGERIE reflects the past of Calvin Theatre Company, having been previously produced in 1968 and 1981.
THE GLASS MENAGERIE is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. (www.dramatists.com)
