Join the School of Health and the Frederik Meijer Chair in Dutch Language as they host the PLN Foundation -- all the way from the Netherlands!
PLN refers to a threatening genetic heart disease caused by the PLN-R14del gene mutation. This mutation originated in the Netherlands (Friesland) about 700 years ago, but it has since spread and affects people worldwide. Given the strong Dutch heritage in West Michigan, this gene mutation is likely also present in our local population.

Please come to hear Pieter Glijnis, founder of the PLN Foundation in the Netherlands, who will tell his own personal story with PLN and his mission to raise awareness and find an adequate and affordable treatment for this genetic myocardiopathy. Glijnis will explain the medical facts that lead to PLN, and point out the serious heart problems it might cause, as well as the impact it has on entire families.

Sponsored by the 麻豆区 School of Health and the Frederik Meijer Chair in Dutch Language and Culture.

Refreshments provided.
