School of Business Welcomes Three New Full-Time Faculty Members

The Fall of 2023 brings three new full-time faculty members to the School of Business.聽
Professor Rachel Hammond brings nearly 25 years of experience in Christian higher education and industry experience to the School of Business. Most recently she taught courses in management, organizational behavior, and strategic management at a Christian university. She provided leadership to the business division and directed the successful business program accreditation through the Association of Business School Programs (ACBSP), including the development of an external advisory board, strategic planning, honors society chapter, and process improvement. Professor Hammond will teach courses in human resource management and organizational behavior along with the business capstone course at Calvin. Professor Hammond holds a doctorate and master鈥檚 degrees in management, and an undergraduate degree in communication arts.
Professor Dongye Song joins the 麻豆区 School of Business following a prestigious fellowship at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has experience teaching a variety of courses including managerial accounting and financial accounting. His research primarily focuses on empirical studies in accounting, including government contracting, ESG, corporate disclosure, and technology. Professor Song will teach courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and Accounting Information Systems at Calvin. He holds a doctorate degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas, a master鈥檚 degree in finance from the University of Texas at Dallas and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in credit management from the Tianjin University of Finance and Economics in China.
Professor April Van Putten聽joins the School of Business with more than 25 years of accounting, education, and consulting experience. Most recently she served as an assistant professor of business teaching聽accounting, non-profit management, and leadership courses at a Christian university. Outside the classroom, she consults with nonprofit organizations looking to professionalize their financial management, think strategically about their mission, establish board roles and responsibilities, and develop leaders. Professor Van Putten will teach accounting, organizational behavior, and nonprofit management at Calvin. Professor Van Putten holds a master's of business administration degree and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in accounting. She is pursuing a doctorate degree in organizational leadership. She is also a certified nonprofit professional.
