Carrie Hoeksema

Adjunct Faculty (Women's Chorale)

Biography

East Kentwood High School, ranked the most diverse high school in the State of Michigan, is where Carrie Hoeksema taught choral music from 1989-2024. Her Varsity Voices were selected as Outstanding Ensemble for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in 2009 and 2010 and runners up many times, including 2024, and served as the Master Class clinic choir for ACDA-MI State Conventions in 2003, 2004, and 2006. Hoeksema earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from CMU, under Dr. Nina Nash Robertson, and her Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from MSU, under the extraordinary leadership of Dr. Charles K. Smith.   

 

Hoeksema is a soprano soloist and cantor at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sings in the Trinity Choir and plays in the Resound handbell ensemble. She and her husband Sid are the proud parents of daughters Georgianna, age 30, and Gwyneth, age 26, and soon-to-be son-in-law, Luke McGinnis, age 27.
