麻豆区鈥檚 School of Education has a long history of preparing excellent teachers, largely in part due to our partners in the community! Our connections with teachers like you allow us to offer students real-world classroom experiences through various levels of internships.

Pre-Internships
A great way to explore partnering with Calvin!
Early in our program, students visit classrooms to observe students and experience excellent teaching in a variety of disciplines. At the same time, corresponding courses on campus are exploring learner development and foundational instructional strategies.
- Minimal expectations for classroom teachers
- Commitment: 10-20 hours per semester, varies by class
Internship 1
After gaining experience through pre-internship placements, students progress to a part-time internship. They work under the mentorship of a classroom teacher and supervision of a Calvin faculty member.
Commitment
- Mornings only, every day
- 7 or 14 weeks
Calvin Students
- Provide one-on-one support to your students
- Facilitate small groups
- Deliver some full-class instruction
Mentor Teachers
- Must have 2+ years of classroom experience
- Need approval from administration
- Provide guided mentoring and feedback
- Are eligible for up to 15 SCECHs
Internship 2
The final internship in our program is a full-time student teaching placement. PK-12 teachers mentor students as they step into instructional work by co-planning and co-teaching with them. Calvin students begin by observing, then quickly transition to leading small groups and teaching full-class lessons. They build toward assuming full responsibility for a minimum of two full weeks.
Commitment
- All day, every day, full semester (14 weeks)
- Art, PE, and Music students may do two 7-week placements
Mentor Teachers
- Must have 3+ years of classroom experience
- Need approval from administration
- Are assigned by the university - mentors and student teachers meet before the semester begins to ensure a good fit.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and feedback
- Are eligible for up to 30 SCECHs
